Using An Insurance Broker Turned Out To Be A Great Decision

Friday, May 20th, 2011

I am the owner of a small coffee and sandwich bar in Fleet. For quite a while, we relied principally on walk in trade and were fortunate enough to have a well located store, right in the centre of a busy high street. Now I consider myself quite a careful person and not much of a risk taker. In fact I always made sure I had my business insurances in order and was quite happy with how the business was progressing.

After discussing our present business plan with my business partner, we decided to expand with a larger scale plan over the next five years. My partner is more of a risk taker than me, and I wasn’t completely comfortable with the large investment into the infrastructure of the business that this new venture would require.

Part of our new business plan involved purchasing refrigerated vehicles, which would allow us to do door to door deliveries for office lunches. Although we currently had one vehicles for one-off deliveries, we needed to expand, and so an order was placed for three more vans to arrive in two weeks.

When I went to a networking group shortly after placing the order for the vans, I began talking with a very knowledgeable insurance broker, whom I explained our business plan to. After admitting my hesitancy over the cost of the insurance, the broker explained that it would be cheaper to get all the vehicles on one fleet insurance policy, which made sense, because they were all being delivered at the same time.

After questioning him about our existing van, whose insurance was due in three months, he suggested waiting until it was due, before adding it to the fleet policy, he told me I would save money this way.

After contacting my broker to arrange the fleet insurance I saved a significant amount of money, and would recommend using your local insurance broker to anyone looking to save money on fleet insurance.

A worthwhile insurance broker such as Coversure will be ready and willing to get you the best available deal on your fleet insurance. Even including their broker fees, the chances are that the deal will work out cheaper because of their excellent contacts and influences in the insurance industry. fleet insurance

How To Get The Best Deal From Your HGV Insurance

Monday, April 25th, 2011

I work for a distribution company in the South East of England and we have over 20 HGVs in our fleet. It’s my job as fleet manager to search for the best insurance deal for the company, but I don’t always go for the cheapest insurance deal. Sometimes the service you receive is more important and cheaper policies do not always provide a comprehensive policy.

As a company, we have always been concerned with the number road traffic accidents we were recording and the high consumption rate of fuel. In an attempt to tackle both of these issues, we recently announced a reduction of approx. 40% in road traffic accidents involving our trucks since we introduced a new safe driving program for all our drivers. Fortunately our insurance premiums have also reduced by 25% largely due to the new telemetric system we installed 3 years ago and the introduction of our safe driver training program.

On the job driver training and follow up review meetings are used for drivers, which help them discuss issues such as acceleration, speeding and harsh braking. More training is implemented by the training manager in problematic areas if it appears necessary after obligatory monitoring of the driving.

We have used the same insurance broker for a long time and she has been fantastic, implementing new schemes, freely giving advice and guidance, and even helping negotiate down the insurance premiums. She was very vocal in the implementation of the safe driver program, and also suggested we should put a lower limit on the speed of our HGVs of 54mph, rather than the previous 56mph, to further limit the number of incidents we were involved in.

To reduce our insurance premiums was not the only reason we looked to introduce this scheme, but we are committed to road safety and aim to introduce a ‘zero’ road incident target by the end of 2012. It’s a big commitment, but we feel we have the buy in from our drivers and the support from partners such as our local insurance broker.

You should speak to your local insurance broker if you are interested in lowering your insurance premiums whilst still maintaining a quality comprehensive policy. They should be able to give free advice and guidance which should help, and mean that you have a cheaper policy whilst being fully covered.

If you are in need of cover for a single HGV or a fleet, Coversure are an insurance broker and will find you the best deal available. They are well known all over the truck insurance industry. Contact them at coversure.co.uk for the best deal on your truck insurance

How To Buy and Import USA Auto Salvage

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

The USA doesn’t exactly have the best road safety record, together with owning a car being pretty much a necessity in the States to get around, pretty much confirms if you are after salvage vehicles, there is likely to be some choice here.

So before you jump on a flight to State near you, expecting to simply part with some cash and buy your first USA auto salvage project think again. There are certain regulations required before you get access to bidding within these salvage auctions.

The ironic thing is the USA allows the sale of salvage for export even when the documents state the vehicle cannot be sold or driven within the USA. So this is when those living outside of the USA can find auto salvage projects to import into their national country.

You still can’t just turn up or log into these sales, there is still some prep work and some conditions to make sure you can bid on these vehicles for export. You may have to leave a deposit first just in case you default on the final payment, and of course prove you don’t live in the States. The auction houses tend to deal with the trade, so quick payment is part of the deal.

A UK based website called SalvageSpareFinder is also something to consider. By joining the online system, you will direct access to the software that allows you to bid in real time with large Salvage Auctions across the USA. You still need to pay your deposit and there are also commission payments due, based on the amount you end up spending.

The actual export process is down to you, do you employ a company to get your auto salvage back to your home country or attempt to do it yourself and only pay for shipping? There are also different costs involved, not just in terms of distance, but how quick you want the car. If you want or need it quick, you may find your purchase is in its own container and put on the first ship. But if you are prepared to wait, so your salvage car can be put with other cargo going to the same place in the same container.

If you think you can bring an export salvage car into your country without paying some sort of tax, think again. Your Government will want some sort of money for the right to import your dream vehicle, best to establish how much this will be before you start the whole process.

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

For large amounts of people, 50cc mopeds are seen as an answer to their need for a more economical way to travel and use transport. Because of this reason, many more people are starting to get interested in the idea of buying a 50cc moped scooter. Some people will even by more than one.

Because expenses are becoming very high in the current economic climate, lots of people are looking to save extra money, and probably the main way that people do this is to reduce their monthly expenditure. This includes gasoline as a living cost. Due to this, mopeds can be an excellent way to travel around for a cheaper cost. The cost of running a 50 cc moped, is a fraction of what it costs to run a car.

Because of the rising demand for moped scooters, there are huge amounts of mopeds now for sale all over the place. Many companies that used to make motorcycles, and now focusing on this new market of moped scooters.

If you do end up deciding to buy a 50cc moped second-hand, you really have to make sure that it’s in good condition before you actually purchase. How I’ve Accumulated My Very Own Mini-Fleet And Have Convenient Fleet Insurance

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

I have four cars which I have acquired over the years. I used to insure them separately, but I have now spoken to an insurance broker who has informed me that I am able to insure them using a fleet policy, meaning all the cars are under one policy. This means I am now able to renew them at once, saving time, and meaning there is only one annual premium charge, which is much cheaper than using separate policies for each car.

My first car was a small car to perform daily tasks in. I bought it after having to ride a bike to work, and was so pleased. If someone had told me then that I would have four cars in the future, I wouldn’t have believed you, but I soon bought my second. After moving to the countryside, and buying a house at the top of a hill, it became increasingly obvious that my small car was not able to cope with snow.

As a result of frustration at being snowed in I bought a four-wheel drive. Although this is a brilliant car, I couldn’t sell my old one, and still use it for small tasks such as trips to the supermarket. However, I began to realise that the search for two cheap insurance policies was too time consuming.

After the other two vehicles, I bought a van for work. When I had to insure it, I consulted an insurance broker, and he surprised me by saying that fleet insurance does not only cater for companies with hundreds of vehicles, but that I could take out a policy with my three vehicles. It also was not a problem that my vehicles were different types, apparently you can mix and match your vehicles and insure them under the same policy. Also, alongside this policy I got a discounted price on my RAC breakdown cover.

After my wife began driving, I was shocked and pleased to be told that her car could also be added to my fleet insurance policy. I cannot imagine how difficult and time consuming it would be to find four separate policies. You should speak to your local broker if your household has three or more vehicles but fewer drivers than cars, and they will be able to arrange a fleet policy, meaning you could save both time and money.

Here We Have A Few Easy Arguments Why You Should Consider Shopping Around For Fleet Insurance

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

Congratulations! Your business grew to the point where the number of vehicles you have was considered to be a fleet for insurance purposes. Your broker negotiated a fleet rate for you. Your vehicles no longer have “no claims bonus”, but your renewal is tailored for you based on your claims experience in the last year.

So are you looking forward to your insurance renewal? Will you be surprised to find a hefty increase on what you paid last year? You’re going to shop around aren’t you?

If you are not going to shop around it will be because it’s hard work. You’ll probably find that your broker won’t shop around on your behalf, because it’s hard work for them too. However it’s a good idea to shop around because it is quite likely that you will be able to make savings.

It really is hard work though and you need to plan. Plan well in advance. Allow at least six weeks before your renewal is due and tell your broker that you need competitive quotes. If he won’t get competitive quotes, go to another broker and get competitive quotes for yourself.

To be properly prepared you need to do more than just leave six weeks. You will need to gather your information from previous claims to tell your new insurer. This information will include the amounts received and the details of the event. If one of these events was a driving accident, in which you were the victim, the insurer will need to know the details about the third party paying. This information can be gathered from your original insurer, insist that you need this information - you are entitled to it.

You will need all the details of all your vehicles if you are using an alternative broker. These details include the make, model and where the vehicle is stored overnight. The drivers will all also have to give their details, including age, gender, driving licence details and driving related convictions. Gathering these details will not be a wasted effort because you will need this information for your broker.

When using fleet insurance, your administration is simplified, and although it can be difficult to get the best deal at renewal, it can be very convenient.

By this point the truck had aged a few years and was prone to breaking down. It’s not just as simple as giving yourself six weeks though. Caravan Insurance fleet insurance It really is hard work though and you need to plan.

Ensure You Get The Right Insurance For The Cars You Love To Avoid A Painful Parting

Saturday, October 9th, 2010

We used to sit in the back of my Dad’s truck outside the house, and we loved it. We loved it when we were very young, and even when we had grown up and moved out. By this point the truck had aged a few years and was prone to breaking down. Dad insured his truck, and included breakdown cover for the times we were left without a working vehicle. Those picnics on the side of the road while we waited for the RAC were actually quite fun!

When an uninsured driver hit the truck we were obviously all worried, but Dad was fine. The truck, on the other hand, was less fortunate. After remembering the lectures to me and my siblings about insurance, I realised there wasn’t going to be a problem. When I was younger and my parents made me get fully comp insurance I was very annoyed, and didn’t see the point, but now, 3 claims on, it has saved my on several occasions.

Next week the news came. The truck was dead. The insurance company hadn’t let us down; there was a shiny new truck outside, in the old truck’s place. My brothers and I were not impressed. It wasn’t the same at all. Dad of course was very happy. He’d made sure he had the right cover and over the years it had paid for itself in jobs he hadn’t missed and now the truck he could still drive.

Now I’m older and have children, I make sure we all have the correct insurance for our vehicles. The truck is now mine, but it isn’t as shiny as it used to be! It is mainly used to ferry the eldest to and from university, and I make sure i have breakdown cover on my insurance - if it broke down, none of us would be able to fix it!

I get a broker to find me the best insurance now Dad doesn’t do it anymore. He searches through all the policies and all I have to do is call up if I need anything. If you have a truck that you want to protect, then get the correct insurance by discussing it with a good insurance broker.
