Most of us have read classified ads for cars over the years but it would probably surprise you to know that many of us do not have any idea what the abbreviations stand for. If you don’t know what the abbreviations stand for then it could be like reading a different language. The following information will help you if you have ever been in this situation and don’t want it to happen again.
Getting as much information as you can across in as few words as possible is the main reason for using abbreviations. Many websites or publications will limit the size of ads in the classified sections so that is why there will be a limited word count when it comes to composing the ads. Some of the abbreviations are more obvious than others such as FFSR for factory fitted sunroof although this is something that would have been in an advert 15 or twenty years ago.
However these days, the abbreviations that will probably be seen more often in these ads are ESP (electronic stability program), Air Con (air conditioning) or ABS (anti-lock brake system)~The abbreviations that you are more likely to see these days would include ABS which stands for anti-lock brake system, ESP which stands for electronic stability program and Air Con which stands for air conditioning.
There are some things that need to be put in your ad but many people will forget them; these are details about the mileage of the car and the service history as well as MOT information. These will sell your car far quicker than listing every abbreviated feature that has been a standard inclusion on cars for the last ten years.
One thing that will really help sell your car is a photo and while you may have to pay some places to include your car’s photo it will speak volumes. Take a look at other cars and how they are photographed to see which you think is best.
In order to get more of the car into the frame, you should try and take the photo from the front corner of the car.

If you were around in the eighties then you will remember KIT the talking car driven by a young David Hasslehoff in Knight Rider. After nearly thirty years, we are about to see that fantasy becoming a reality because talking cars are said to be the next generation of cars.
There is a lot of money being invested in talking cars by many manufacturers but what they will be saying to us remains a mystery at the moment.
We probably won’t see anything spectacular this year but from what we understand, Ford is developing a voice recognition that will understand many commands; in fact probably more commands then we would even consider giving. What is even more impressive is the fact that they plan on making the car understand around 19 languages.
It could even replace your current Sat Nav system because you could just ask the car for directions instead. So if you wanted to find a local hotel you could just ask your car to find you one rather than having to pull over to use your sat nav. Ford have been testing a reduced version of the voice recognition system in the US for some time now and they are planning to make it available in Europe as well.
This voice system by Ford is going to be far more sophisticated than anything we have seen so far but it will probably cost around 350 so that would make it more of a luxury than a standard option. With the ability to call emergency services if you are in an accident and give the exact location of where you are, this is one impressive piece of kit.
On the other hand you may be in more crashes because of it as safety campaigners have said Ford’s ‘Sync’ Voice system is preventing drivers from using their mobile through hands free which will cause more accidents.

Unless you are in the car trade whether a mechanic or a sales person, you could find that you end up paying more for a used car than you need to when the time comes to replace the car you are currently driving. By using a little common sense and guidance you could save yourself a lot of money. Before you decide to go out and buy a used car, the following tips should be followed.
It is always wise to find the right time to buy a used car so you need to find out when the car dealers are going to have a lot of cars on the forecourt. Because new registrations come out just before March and September, this is the best time to buy a used car. Not long after the new registrations are out the number of cars they have taken in part exchange will be mounting and you may get a better deal on a used car.
Many people will be trying to sell their old car privately and will want to get it sold as quickly as possible so the classified ads section might be one to try as well.
Because your car will depreciate in price every day, many private sellers will be happy enough to sell their car to you provided you offer a decent price for it.
Many gas guzzlers are sold at a cheaper price just after budget day. With fuel duty rises and the cost of running large engines increasing, people are more willing to accept a fair offer than hold out for more money when they face higher running costs.
Last year the fuel duty wasn’t raised but VAT went up to 20% which in essence meant that we faced more expensive visits to the fuel pumps anyway.

It would be a very good idea to learn all you can about the workings of the used car market especially if you are considering buying a used model for your next car. There are some basic techniques that most garages these days use so it is very important that you learn all you can about these techniques because that way you will get more for your money.
Car dealers will be more likely to give you a better price for your car if you can show that you know all the factors that they will use to determine the price.
Most car dealers will price the cars on their forecourts very high because they feel it is a good idea to take a gamble in most cases. Most car dealers would be shocked if a person walked in from the street and was willing to pay the price quoted on a car. The figure that is on display is always open to negotiation and that can be anything from 5 to 20% of the actual amount the garage could accept.
When it comes to determining the price of a car, there are a number of factors which are taken into consideration such as the mileage of the car, the condition of it and if there is documentation relating to the service history of the car. If you are looking at a car with a full service history especially a full dealer service history then you are going to have to be prepared to pay nearer the asking price.
However if the car has not had a service for a few years then you will probably be able to negotiate a bit more.
You will usually have a bit more bargaining power if you intend to trade in your old car but you could lose out if you do this as well because you might get more if you were to sell it privately. Before you agree on any deals, it would be wise to check out the value of any used car beforehand.

In order to save money, many people today are starting to do car repairs alone. When you are one of those people who’ve turned your garage into a home mechanics shop there are a few things that you may need.
A couple of must-have items are generally a battery charger and a car starter. For this reason we will concentrate on the Schumacher SE-4020 10/40/200-AMP Wheel-Style Charger And Starter.
One particular aspect of repairing my own car that I don’t like is having to power up the battery up after needing to start the car over and over again.
I am sure you have been working on a car so when you go to start it you find out that the battery is dead. Then you have to wait several hours for the battery to be charged up again before you are able to start your car.
So I was quite delighted to learn that they now have personal versions of charger and starter units that you would find in car shops. The good thing about these new units is that they will not cost you $500 to $1000 but they work equally efficiently as the professional versions.
The Schumacher SE-4020 10/40/200-AMP Wheel-Style Charger And Starter happens to be an example of these cost-effective units.
The SE-4020 is such a powerful device that some professional mechanics are using it. My cousin is a professional mechanic who bought two of these units for about $700 less for what he paid for his original pro machine.
If you use the 10 amp setting located on the charger, you can charge a car battery within just three to five hours. What’s far more cool is when you set the unit to 40 amps, you can fully charge a battery anywhere between forty minutes to two and a half hours. And the most beneficial feature, for me, is the 200 amp setting which can give up to 350 amps of pure power to jump start your car.
This unit permits you to switch between 6 and 12 volts so you can use it for almost any vehicle like a lawn tractor or motorcycle.
Another nice feature is a built in timer so you can charge something for a particular period of time without having to remember to turn it off. While using the timepiece, there’s no need to worry about overcharging your batteries.
The Schumacher unit comes in handy during the winter since cars usually have a hard time starting up, so you can use this unit for a quick boost.
Turning into your own personal mechanic will go perfectly along with cheap car insurance quotes. The rationale is definitely straightforward. If you have a problem with the car, you’re more likely to correct it all by yourself instead of registering an insurance claim.

Payment
Never send money for payment of a car unless you are sure that it is going to arrive at the intended destination. For instance you could be asked for a substantial deposit prior to picking a car up and you should make sure that the car is still physically available for sale to you prior to paying any deposit.
Do all the Checks
Failing to check the cars history is a school boy error that could lead to tears down the road. A correct check will tell you if a car has been an insurance write off, stolen or is still under finance which will need to be paid before ownership can be transferred.
You also need to get confirmation of the mileage and the VIN number of the car. Don’t just rely on what the seller is telling you about the history of the car.
Meeting the Vendor
It is never a good idea to buy a car without first inspecting it and it is a good idea to make sure you get to view the car at the address that was on the DVLA checks that you carried out. If you want to make sure that you can see any problems with the car such as dents or rust then you need to make a point of checking the car out during the day.
In order to test all the gears of the car it would be wise to arrange a long test drive.
Know the Value of the Car
Before you enter into any negotiations with a seller, make sure you are aware of the average price of the car you are interested in as well as details that could mean reductions in the price such as excessive mileage. Never buy on impulse or with your heart because when you come to sell your car on you could be facing a massive loss above the usual depreciation.

So often we rely on a garage to tell us what is wrong with our car when a lot of the time the car can tell us all we need to know if we read in the messages that it gives us and perhaps take a look in the owner’s manual.
You might not even need your owners manual if you have access to a computer and the internet and in many cases you can sit there with your laptop and use it to get through all the steps of a certain procedure. Although don’t forget that sometimes you do need to go to a garage if you want to find out what the problem is.
Check Out The Malfunction Indicator Lamp Or The Engine Light
This light is usually indicative of a problem with the control system for the engine rather than a problem with the engine. The problem with this light however is the fact that it tends to go off and on and that means that people think the problem has gone away.
When it comes to the newer cars of today, the problem will need to be dealt with by the garage because the actual fault will be recorded in the computer of the car and unless you have access to diagnostic equipment you will not be able to solve this problem. It is probably wise to pull over if you see a number of lights coming on at the same time.
When it comes to the lights coming on in your car, there can be a number of reasons such as a spark plug which is causing the car to misfire or a lack of compression. While some are easy to fix others will need you to have specialist equipment even something as simple as a spark plug spanner.
When it comes to the warning lights in your car, you should make sure that you do not use anything that could knock them off and make sure the garage that you use does not do this either.

There are some cars that go down in history almost the minute they run off the production line. While you don’t see many supercars come from a mass production factory, there are some that have inspired rally fans for generations since they first graced our televisions.
Examples of the cars that have become famous are the Mitsubishi Evolution which beat the Ferrari and the Lancia Delta Integrale that was around in the eighties. These cars are the dream machines of every red blooded young man that ever took a driving test.
However if you were thinking of trying to acquire one of these cars yourself then you could look forward to high maintenance costs. The thing is though that the rewards for owning these beasts are never going to come cheaply but they are plentiful. However with the newer rally models you can be guaranteed that they will be easier to maintain than the older models because they have high performance engines which have to be serviced constantly.
When you consider the Mitsubishi Evolution is faster than a Ferrari up to around third gear going in to fourth you can understand why they need to be treated well. The Evolution needs to be looked at every 6 months or 4,500 miles whichever comes first and as long as you check what the manual tells you then you will get years of trouble free high performance motoring.
It is true to say that as long as you regularly change the oil and follow your user’s manual, you will get the most out of any car.
It is expensive to maintain these rally cars but if you get involved in some of the enthusiast groups out there you will be able to source cheap parts and can share in their knowledge. If you decide you want to get your dream car joining an owners club is a must.
On the lookout for for great cars, then Mitsubishi Cars are your ultimate choice for your dream vehicle
